PLD quick-recall teams dominate state tourney

The Paul Laurence Dunbar quick-recall teams won first and second place at the Kentucky National Academic Quizbowl Tournament, held at the University of Louisville this past weekend.
The first-place winners include Ailin Shen, Brian Fei, Ping Chen and Jay Li. And the second-place team is composed of Pavitra Muralidar, Amit Chakraborty, Tian Yang and Sandy Huang.
With this latest honor, Dunbar’s junior varsity team has won one of the statewide academic championships; its varsity team captured the other, the Governor’s Cup. The distinctions give both teams automatic bids to the nationals the last week of May in Chicago, where about 200 outstanding teams will compete.
