Sarah Bezerra is among the 40 regional finalists in the nationwide Doodle 4 Google contest, and Raven Graves was a state finalist. Both are third-graders at Millcreek Elementary School.
The art competition asks students to design a Google logo or “doodle” inspired by the question “What if...?” The winning doodle will be displayed on the Google homepage on May 22, and the champion will get a $10,000 college scholarship, a laptop computer, a trip to the Googleplex and a $25,000 technology grant for his or her school.
The public can vote online through Sunday May 18 to decide the four national finalists. Visit www.google.com/doodle4google.
Sarah and the other regional winners are invited to the Doodle 4 Google awards ceremony May 21 at the Googleplex in Mountain View, Calif., where the finalists and overall winner will be announced.
The three runners-up will win a trip to the Googleplex, a laptop computer and a T-shirt printed with their doodle. The other 36 regional winners get a trip to the Googleplex and a T-shirt printed with their doodle, and the other 360 state finalists receive a “Doodle 4 Google” certificate.

Sarah’s text:
What if there was not spring… Could we still see those beautiful and colorful flowers? If there weren’t flowers, could butterflies and bees get the pollen? If there were not butterflies and bees, who would take the pollen to grow other flowers? Spring is a beautiful and colorful season.

Raven’s text:
What if Google was a dragon that could fly through all Web sites to get the information you need? It would be so fast that it would set your computer on fire.
