Alicia Vinson, the world languages specialist in Fayette County Public Schools, will study in Japan this summer thanks to a Keizai Koho Center Educator Fellowship.
Vinson, who leaves June 29 and returns July 12, will learn about Japan’s economy and contemporary society as her 10-member group participates in roundtable discussions with business leaders and educators. Highlights will include visits to schools and major companies and an overnight stay with a host family.
“I am really excited because I think it will be a great learning experience,” Vinson said. “Mainly what I want is to find sister schools for our programs and help my teachers incorporate the culture into language teaching.”
The Keizai Koho Center is the independent, nonprofit organization affiliated with Nippon Keidanren (Japan Business Federation). Its mission is to promote a better understanding of Japan’s economy and society through publications, programs, fellowships and exchanges. For more details, go to www.keidanren-usa.org.
