Green & Healthy Schools to host community forum and regional summit

Find out more about building a new generation of greener, healthier schools at two upcoming events, both free and open to the public.
Green Schools 101 is set for 6 to 8 p.m. Feb. 21 at the Fayette County Public Schools’ central office, 701 E. Main St., in Norsworthy Auditorium. At this community forum, whose theme is Green Tools for Green Schools, you can get an overview of the Green & Health Schools programs and learn about the benefits for your children. A regional summit is planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 29 and March 1 at Crestwood Christian Church, 1882 Bellefonte Drive. Among the Friday seminars are farm-to-school connections, recycling and composting, and school gardens. Saturday’s hands-on workshops, designed especially for students, include such topics as rain gardens and outdoor classrooms. Admission to the two-day summit is free, but registration is required.
