The second annual Flying Eagles 5K Walk starts at 6:15 p.m. Friday April 18 at Glendover Elementary School.
“People bring their strollers, some walk, some run. It’s just for the entire family, to get them out and exercise,” said Krista R. Mason, Family Resource Center coordinator.
The route heads to the Arboretum, winds through neighborhood and ends back at the school.
The 5K event is an outgrowth of Glendover’s Healthy Choices Make a World of Difference program, established in 2005. The goal is to increase kids’ physical activity and encourage healthy habits.
Among the sponsors and partners are McDonald’s, which will provide apple dippers at the 5K walk; the Arboretum, the health department and the Glendover PTA.
On-site registration is welcome; T-shirts are $12 for adults and $3 for children. As a bonus, Glendover’s jump-rope team will perform at 5 p.m.
