Since winter seems to have extended its stay in the Bluegrass area, Fayette County Public Schools administrators are making contingency plans to make up for the instructional time lost due to inclement weather.
So far this winter, Fayette County Public Schools have been closed four full days because of weather conditions. But the calendar approved more than a year ago by the Fayette County Board of Education only had three weather days built into it.
Superintendent Stu Silberman will recommend to the school board that the calendar be changed to make up snow days on March 9, May 29, May 30 and May 31. The current calendar called for students to be off on March 9 and for the last day of school to be May 25.
