The annual FAME Awards gives high school seniors in Fayette County Public Schools an opportunity to honor the teachers, coaches, mentors and role models who have made a difference in their lives.

Nearly 80 students submitted essays describing their FAME nominees, and a winner was picked from each school. Lowe Promotions donated a book scholarship to ecampus.com, and Office Depot provided a gift card for each winning senior.

This year’s recognition ceremony and reception, sponsored by PNC Bank, was March 13 at Bryan Station High School. The winners read their entire essays, and the rest of the students introduced their nominees and shared a short excerpt.

The winning essays:

Bryan Station - Alexandra Sherlock, honoring James Poff

Henry Clay - Ryan McCray, honoring Jody Cabble

Lafayette - Andrew Feese, honoring Tracy Lambert

Paul Laurence Dunbar - Victoria Vasquez, honoring Paul Morimanno

Tates Creek - Bria Harris, honoring Billie Sue Harmon
