Feature article Generous Lexmark gift means new equipment for new digsArticle and photos by Nema Brewer-Candy
Lexmark volunteers worked at a steady pace loading paper into new copiers and printers at the new Bryan Station High School – a sign that the new facility is nearing completion. The equipment was donated through the Fayette Education Foundation for the new building by Lexmark. The gift, including services, is valued at $500,000 and represents some of the company’s most advanced technology. “The copiers and equipment are so much more advanced than the ones we have now,” said Bryan Station High School principal Gladys Peoples. “Lexmark and our employees are committed to helping Fayette County Public Schools achieve educational excellence. This donation supports that commitment by sharing our technology and our expertise,” said Paul A. Rooke, Lexmark executive vice president and president of the company’s Printing Solutions and Services Division. 95 percent of Lexmark volunteers working to install the equipment in the new building have close ties to the school. Several were graduates of Bryan Station or their spouses attended the school. Others have children enrolled there. The new Bryan Station will open its doors to students and staff on January 3. |
