Gifted / Talented Programs

Math/Science Technology Center at P.L. Dunbar High School

Math/Science Technology Center at P.L. Dunbar High School is a program for students identified in the specific academic areas of math and/or science. MSTC offers a rigorous four-year curriculum designed to develop students who are internationally competitive in mathematics and science. Requirements include:

  • A 360 hour research project
  • At least one MSTC mathematics course each year which must include MSTC Calculus
  • Fifteen full-year MSTC courses during high school
  • Three years of the same foreign language

Eligibility for the Math/Science Technology Center at P.L. Dunbar requires a minimum of three (3) pieces of supporting documentation including a minimum score of 96th percentile on a nationally normed standardized test of achievement in the math composite, math concepts and problem solving, or science subtest. Additional assessments and performance events are also included in this selection process. A program and district committee reviews all documentation. Placements are then made according to space availability at the school and district rank order.

  • Admission Testing: Saturday, November 3, 2007 8-12 noon PLD Cafeteria
    Make-up date November 8, 4:30 - 8:30 pm PLD Room 400.
