Maxwell Elementary Spanish Immersion Program

The mission at Maxwell is to provide an integrated multicultural learning environment that fosters the development of the traditional basic skills as well as the additional skills of learning to communicate in Spanish. The goal is proficiency in Spanish as a second language, while fully developing skills and knowledge in all the basic content areas. By using higher-order thinking skills, students are empowered to become life-long learners who are able to live, think, and appreciate diversity in a changing world.

Students attending Maxwell receive instruction in Spanish 50% of the school day and instruction in English for the remaining 50% of the time.  Maxwell Elementary Spanish Immersion program is a continuation program.  Students who have been accepted into the program will continue through the High School level if they choose.

Grades K through 1 are admitted based on a lottery draw.  A student wishing to enter after grade 1 is required to complete proficiency test in both written and verbal ability of the Spanish language.
