Gifted and Talented Services

Grades 4 - 12

Students in grades four through twelve (4 - 12) are formally identified for gifted/talented services. Eligibility requires a minimum of three (3) pieces of supporting documentation in the area(s) of strength.

In the area of specific academic aptitude one of the three pieces of documentation must be a 96th percentile on a nationally normed standardized achievement test. In the area of general intellectual ability one of the three pieces of documentation must be a 96th percentile on a nationally normed full scale mental ability test by age.

Other supporting documentation may include:

  • Student work samples
  • Behavioral checklists
  • Anecdotal records
  • Parent questionnaires
  • Teacher recommendations
  • Auditions
  • Performances
  • Diagnostic data

A school gifted/talented committee reviews all documentation to determine identification, service options, location, and provider of services.
