The Accelerated Cluster program is Fayette County Public Schools' highest level service for academically and intellectually gifted/talented students in grades 3-5. The cluster program offers:

  • Specially trained teachers
  • Accelerated content
  • Accelerated pace
  • Abstract and conceptual curricula
  • Differentiated content, process, and products
  • Opportunities for lateral explorations, research, and constructing connections
  • High level critical and creative thinking

The Accelerated Cluster is a continuation program, grades 3-12. Students who make satisfactory receive priority placement for the middle school Accelerated Cluster at Winburn and the Liberal Arts Academy at Henry Clay High School.

Eligibility to the Accelerated Cluster program requires a minimum of three (3) pieces of supporting documentation. A minimum score of 96th percentile total/partial battery score on a nationally normed standardized test of achievement AND a minimum score of 96th percentile by age on a nationally normed full scale test of mental ability. A district committee reviews all documentation for students to determine identification.
