How do I navigate this Web site?

In the summer of 2008, we redesigned the school district's Web site to incorporate new technologies and provide a cleaner and simpler look and feel.

Search the site:

You can find particular resources by using the search box on the home page (top right). Simply type in a key word or name and hit the "search" button. You can then narrow your search to Web pages, the staff directory or PDF files.

The home page:

We created this "How do I ..." section to address people's more commonly asked questions. It is posted front and center on the home page for easy access. We also have a FAQ list for frequently asked questions; click on the "About FCPS" menu tab, then click FAQ at the far right.

You can click on the menu bar tabs under the row of photographs to find general information, district department listings and details on all our schools, among other resources.

Under latest news, read press releases about our district, our schools and our students.

In the features section, we post articles and photographs that spotlight interesting people, unusual programs and outstanding efforts across the district.

Next up and On Channel 13 display a handful of coming events and programs, with links underneath to fuller calendars and TV listings.

From the home page, you also can sign up to receive Stu's News as well as send us your feedback.

District calendars:

We offer a full-featured online calendar of districtwide meetings and school-related events. From the home page, click on "News & Calendars" in the center of the row of top menu tabs, then click the "calendars" link at the far right. Then choose the appropriate link. Calendar tools allow you to search listings by category, such as "arts" or "school board," and set up e-mail reminders of events you don't want to miss.
