Enrollment in Fayette County Public Schools

Web tip: The URL shortcut to this page is www.fcps.net/enrollment

Kentucky law requires children between 6 and 18 years old to attend school. Any child who turns 5 on or before Aug. 1 can enroll in kindergarten. Also, families may apply for the district's preschool program if their child turns 4 on or before Aug. 1 and is income-eligible. Three- and 4-year-olds who have a special need may also apply for preschool.

Redistricting option

  • Students entering grades 8, 11, and 12 who have opted to stay in their current school (grandfathering) in 2017-18 must notify the Department of Pupil Personnel no later than Friday June 2. No transportation will be provided. Siblings of those students will be allowed to remain in their current schools only as long as their older brother or sister is still there.

For questions about first-time enrollment and registration, call (859) 381-4130. For questions about how families can help young children transition to school, call (859) 381-4307.
