Academy of Information Technology at Bryan Station

The Academy of Information Technology at Bryan Station High School is committed to preparing students for the rigorous academic and work demands of post-secondary institutions and the workplace by:

  • Addressing 21st-century skills;
  • Having a well-rounded technology and core content curriculum; and
  • Providing graduating students with an edge in today’s competitive global economy by making connections with industry businesses in the community.

As a member of the National Academy Foundation, the program is structured to ensure all students will benefit from a small learning community approach in which teachers are teamed in order to best address the needs of the individual students.

This four-year program provides elective courses on the skills needed in information technology careers; it also embeds technology and other workplace skills in the core content areas. Topics include Web design, digital video and media, programming, networking, database and computer systems. Students may also participate in a paid internship, field trips, mentoring and community projects.

Admission

The academy is open to all interested incoming freshmen at Bryan Station High School. The admissions process includes an application, short essay and teacher recommendation.

Students who are assigned to other high schools may also apply to the IT academy. If accepted, they must then complete an FCPS out-of-area request:
