Formal identification for G&T
Students in grades 4-12 are formally identified for gifted and talented services. Eligibility requires a minimum of three pieces of supporting documentation in the area(s) of strength.
In specific academic aptitude, one of the three pieces of documentation must be a 96th percentile on a nationally normed standardized achievement test. In general intellectual ability, one of the pieces must be a 96th percentile on a nationally normed full-scale mental ability test by age. Other supporting documentation may include:
- Student work samples
- Behavioral checklists
- Anecdotal records
- Parent questionnaires
- Teacher recommendations
- Auditions
- Performances
- Diagnostic data
A committee reviews all documentation to determine identification, service options, location and provider of services.
