Who We Are Bluegrass area history museum located in the courthouse that served Lexington from 1900 to 2001.
What We Offer School tours on the area (Fayette County covered 45 present-day counties when it was established as a part of Virginia in 1780).
Where We Are In the old courthouse recently converted to the Lexington History Center next to historic Cheapside Park.
Educational Materials Available Always changing with four separate galleries, the core exhibit, Lexington: Athens of the West, tells the history of the area. Other exhibits change regularly having covered areas like African American photography, technology, the equine industry.
Availability Open Friday through Monday noon to 4:00 p.m. School groups and other youth programs scheduled as needed seven days a week by early arrangement. No charge.
