Resources and information for parents and schools on helping children in unsettling times

These can be troubling times for children, with the media saturated with stories of terrorism, war, and violence. In an effort to help teachers and parents learn to help children cope, we are providing some references for school staffs and parents. Some of the information may be helpful to send home for parents to discuss with their children or for teachers to discuss to their students. Other resources are more appropriate for counselors to meet the needs of smaller groups of students.

This information has been pulled together from various sources and most of it has been coordinated by the FCPS Safe Schools Office. If we can be of any further assistance or you would like other specific information please contact that office at 381-4223.

Parents, please remember to keep your school informed as to what is going on in your child's life so the school can be of assistance.
