Career and technical education
The Career and Technical Education office coordinates all technical programs throughout the Fayette County Public School System for grades 6-12. We coordinate career assessments within the school and supervise work-based learning that includes co-op, mentoring, shadowing, and clinical experiences. This entails serving as a community liaison between the school and the business community relating school curriculum to technical opportunities and developing partnerships for schools and businesses and future employment possibilities. Programs Offered(10 Middle and 5 High Schools with two Technical Centers: Southside and Eastside)
Experience-Based Career Education (EBCE)All five high schools have a learning coordinator supervising the 30-60 seniors enrolled in EBCE. Each student experiences 6-8 academic internships through the school year. Over 500 sites are available throughout the community and surrounding areas. EBCE bridges the gap between study and experience using the classroom and the community to provide hands-on career decisions. Both specialists have had at least 1,000 contacts with the school coordinators this year. More information... School to Work (STW)This program works with the 180 STW clients we have in the School District to provide guidance and support of their careers, after-school jobs, post-secondary, military, etc. STW Resources Specialist works with the youth, Service center coordinators and counselors of those students, along with the recruitment of new clients, who live in census tracts 2, 3 and 4. This assistance is provided to all students in schools that reside in these census tracts. More information... Last update: 10/3/2006 7:06:39 AM |
