FCPS Board of Education

Mission statement: "In active partnership with all stakeholders, the mission of the Fayette County Board of Education is to responsibly provide resources and set policies that enable every student to achieve his or her greatest potential."

Five members, elected to four-year terms, comprise the Board. The Board normally meets on the second and fourth Mondays of each month at the FCPS "It's About Kids" Support Services building, 701 East Main Street. Special meetings may be called by the Board at times other than the regularly scheduled dates. Be sure to check the Board meeting schedule for specific dates and times.

Board meetings are open to the public and regular Board meetings are televised on cable channel 13. Public participation is always welcome and the agenda shall include an opportunity for the public to address the Board. However, the Board will not take official action regarding comments made at the meeting, unless the Board deems it an emergency. Any member of the public may submit items to be considered for the agenda to the Superintendent in writing ten calendar days prior to the date of the meeting.

Agenda outlines listing the topics for discussion / action are posted on the Friday preceding the next regular Monday board meeting. Please refer to the board meeting schedule to determine when the next regular meeting is scheduled. Agenda outlines are updated after the meetings with annotations indicating what action was taken on each agenda item. The updated agenda outline is generally available by noon the day following the meeting.

Complete agendas are posted on the Friday preceding the board meeting. These are Adobe Acrobat files containing the official agenda. Since the files tend to be quite large — on the order of 3-5 MB — we also make agenda outlines available for those with slower Internet connections.

Official minutes of board meetings are available online. As board meeting minutes are not made official until approved at the following meeting, they will not be posted here until the day after the meeting in which the minutes were approved.
