Disruptive riders
The privilege of riding a school bus is extended to students who qualify according to the policies of the Fayette County Board of Education. Students who violate pertinent rules may be subject to disciplinary action, including suspension of bus riding privileges.
Whenever the driver determines an unsafe condition exists, the bus must be stopped until the situation is remedied. The driver may seek assistance from the Transportation Division. Drivers also may request the removal of students responsible for the unsafe condition; they will be transported by separate bus to the school or to the terminal at 780 Miles Point Way.
Any condition that, if permitted to continue, could result in injury to a student is considered unsafe. Some examples:
- Failing to carry out the driver's instructions.
- Failing to remain properly seated.
- Throwing items inside or out of the bus.
- Fighting, yelling and loud talking.
- Extending body parts out the window.
- Damaging any part of the bus.
- Improperly exiting the bus.
- Intimidating or harassing other students.
