Early Start
Early Start is the state-mandated preschool program in Fayette County Public Schools.
- 2011-2012 calendar (Note: Whenever schools have a one- or two-hour weather delay, all Early Start sessions are cancelled.)
Goals:
Early Start enthusiastically supports and follows the goals of the Kentucky Early Childhood Standards. The Early Start learning environment is skillfully planned by certified teachers using the philosophy of the Creative Curriculum to ensure a high quality, developmentally appropriate education for all young children.
Program eligibility:
A child who meets the following guidelines is eligible for Early Start:
- Lives in Fayette County, and
- Is 4 years old by Oct. 1, and
- Falls under federal income guidelines.
Or if the child:
- Lives in Fayette County, and
- Is 3 or 4 years old (or turns 5 after Oct. 1), and
- Has a diagnosed special need.
Required for enrollment:
- Reliable proof of identity, such as an official copy of a birth certificate
- Two proofs of residency in Fayette County
- Verification of household income
- Up-to-date Kentucky immunization certificate
- Medical examination (physical)
- Eye exam
