Family and Community Involvement
More than 30 years of research has established that family and community involvement in students' learning helps boost their achievement and close achievement gaps. Fayette County Public Schools recognizes this essential partnership in educating our children and has a district policy and a liaison to support the district's Family and Community Involvement Plan.
"The Missing Piece of the Proficiency Puzzle," a report to the Kentucky Department of Education by the commissioner’s Parent Advisory Council, recommends how to involve families and communities to help improve student achievement.
"Conferencing for Success," a program on Channel 13 hosted by Judi Conrad, provides useful tips to help parents collaborate effectively with their children's teachers.
"College Prep 101" is a monthly, half-hour show that helps high school juniors and seniors select the right college for them. This show also aims to assist guidance counselors as they prepare their students, covering the same time-sensitive topics that best serve families in making this important decision. | Air time: Tuesday at 7 p.m., Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
