Special Events

Our office plans and coordinates various special events to recognize accomplishments across our school district. Among them:

Calendar art competition:

Schools are invited to submit original student artwork for consideration in the district's calendar and family handbook for the upcoming school year. In partnership with LexArts, our students' artwork is on display in a gallery showing, and a panel of community judges selects the winning pieces. Fourteen talented students are featured in the following year's district calendar.

FAME:

Graduating seniors are encouraged to nominate a favorite teacher, coach or mentor who has made a difference in their lives. Student-teacher pairs, selected on the strength of the essay submissions, are invited to a program honoring the special influence an educator can have on the lives of the students they serve. This event is sponsored by National City Bank.

Ninth-Grade Improvement Awards:

Each high school is invited to select ninth-grade students who have put forth extra effort to get back on the path to success. Students are invited to a dinner in their honor, and five districtwide winners receive special gifts courtesy of Dell.

PTA Appreciation:

Without the time and energy of our tireless PTAs, our schools could not do the work they do. Once a year, we take time to honor the president of each PTA in the district, along with the leaders of the districtwide PTA group, for all their hard work.

Retirement celebration:

All FCPS employees who are retiring are invited to a celebration and dinner.
