In Fayette County Public Schools, we celebrate our hardworking students, exceptional teachers, innovative programs and outstanding accomplishments. And we're always eager to spread the good word throughout the larger community. 

Periodically, we send out media advisories by e-mail and/or fax to alert local reporters to upcoming events they might want to cover. We also post notices here, so keep an eye on this space.

Nov. 20: Appalachian author at Cassidy

Author Anne Shelby will be at Cassidy Elementary all day on Friday Nov. 20, meeting with every grade level to share her stories and music about Appalachia.

Dec. 9: Food-drive awards

What: Students at 49 participating schools collected 89,179 pounds of food in the 15th annual Kids Helping Kids food drive, which is sponsored by Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky.

Schools donating the most pounds per student were (in no particular order) Breckinridge Elementary, Cassidy Elementary, Eastside Technical Center, Jessie M. Clark Middle, Lafayette High, Meadowthorpe Elementary, SCAPA Bluegrass, Southern Middle, Veterans Park Elementary and Winburn Middle School.

Notable: Placements will be announced in an awards ceremony at 10 a.m. Dec. 9 at the God’s Pantry Food Bank warehouse.
