Fred Sightings

We encourage everyone in our district to add personal touches to their work and to go the extra mile to show how much we care about our kids and our constituents.

We call the employees who provide superior customer service “Freds.” This recognition program is inspired by the book “The Fred Factor” by Mark Sanborn, about a very service-minded postman.

Any FCPS employee who goes above and beyond the call of duty can be nominated. Remember: We're looking for specific examples of outstanding service, rather than general praise of someone's overall performance or positive attitude.

How to nominate an employee

If you spot an employee exhibiting Fred-like behavior, please submit your nominee for consideration. Please provide as much detail as possible about the specific acts of customer service that prompted you to recommend him or her for a "Fred."

Accepted nominees are spotlighted in Stu's News.

Since the original Fred was a postal carrier, the Lexington postmaster has stepped forward to honor one special employee with a Quarterly Fred Award.
