International Baccalaureate at Tates Creek
The International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme at Tates Creek High School is a rigorous and relevant college preparatory program. Its goal is to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
To maximize their success, IB students should strive:
- To be inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced and reflective learners.
- To have a strong work ethic.
- To have a strong academic background.
Based on the inquiry method, the IB teaches students to think, process and apply information in a meaningful way. This program is all about preparing students for that next stage of life in the global society of the 21st century and is considered one of the best liberal arts pre-college curriculums in the world.
In addition to the academic requirements, the program includes the Theory of Knowledge class; Creativity, Action and Service; and the Extended Essay, a research-based project.
