Fayette County magnet programs foster higher achievement, encourage creativity, open the door to other cultures and provide an array of educational choices that focus on the specific needs, interests and abilities of students. Students accepted to magnet schools leave their regular school districts in order to attend the specialty program of their choice.

Our magnet schools give parents a choice of instructional offerings including Spanish Immersion, Individually Prescribed Education and traditional programs. Our gifted and talented programs are designed to provide the highest level of service to students with strengths in the areas of creative and performing arts, math and science as well as general intellectual ability and specific academic aptitude.

These magnet schools have entrance criteria and accept students on the basis of a lottery:

• Bryan Station Traditional Magnet Middle 
• Lexington Traditional Magnet Middle 

These schools do not have entrance criteria and accept students on the basis of a lottery:

• Dixie Elementary - individually prescribed education
• Maxwell Spanish Immersion Elementary 

Continuation from Maxwell Elementary's Spanish Immersion:

• Bryan Station - middle and high school Spanish immersion
