16th District PTA

Our mission is to make every child's potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to advocate for all students. Key values include collaboration, commitment, accountability, respect, inclusivity, and integrity. PTA/PTSA chapters in Fayette County Public Schools are part of the 16th District PTA in Kentucky.
Note: PTA, a 501c(3) organization, is not part of FCPS.

Districtwide Initiatives

Superintendent's Roundtable: Families and PTA members from across Lexington gather several times a year in an open forum to talk with the superintendent and other FCPS leaders about common issues in schools. Please check our Facebook page for the latest details.

"Reflections" art competition: The National PTA Reflections program challenges students to create art inspired by a common theme. Categories include photography, dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, and visual art. Ask your student's teachers about participating in the fall.

Spring awards luncheon: The 16th District PTA's annual recognition luncheon in May celebrates active school chapters, outstanding leaders, and senior scholars. Also, new officers are installed every two years.

Grant Opportunities

Throughout the year, National PTA offers awards or grants as chapters engage families, support student success, improve health and safety, increase access to arts education, and celebrate advocacy and diversity.

National PTA

Did you know?

PTA was founded in 1897 to right wrongs done to children. It went on to advocate for child labor laws, the establishment of the juvenile justice system, hot lunches in schools, and much more. In Kentucky, parents are represented on the SBDM councils at every school because of KY PTA. The 16th District members advocate locally and beyond.
